Microsoft has apologised to users after it released an update to its popular Windows 10 operating system by mistake.
The US technology giant said the Windows 10 build was accidentally released to members enlisted on its Insiders programme.
According to Microsoft, the update wasn't fully tested with the firm stating that, "this build was never intended to go out to Windows Insiders and may include issues that impact usability of your PC."
This problem happened due to an inadvertent deployment to the engineering system that controls which builds/which rings to push out to insiders.
Microsoft says its team was quick to revert the deployment and put blocks in place to stop these builds from going out to more people.
It's currently unclear exactly how many users will have been affected by the issue although Microsoft has said that its analysis shows only a small portion of Insiders got these builds.
For those who received one of these builds on your devices – Microsoft has issued the following advice.
"If you received this build (from RS_EDGE_CASE) on your PC: Please be aware that this build was never intended to go out to Windows Insiders and may include issues that impact usability of your PC – more so than the normal builds we give you.
"You can either sit tight and wait for us to publish a newer build to you or you can roll-back to the previous build via Settings > Update & security > Recovery. And check your Windows Insider Program settings.
NOTE: You have up to 10 days to roll-back and this will only work if you did not do Disk Cleanup to remove your previous Windows installation.

I hate Windows 10, I have been putting off the creators edition by refusing to accept the privacy policy, lol.

What I read:
:O)
Microsoft apologizes after Windows 10 causes chaos.
It even appeared on phones & computers that aren't part of the guinea pig program.
This is why you only put Windows 10 on secondary PCs, folks.
In 2014, Microsoft deliberately pushed Windows 10 to a large number of Windows machines due to “an inadvertent deployment to the psychiatric system that controls which os' to push out to patients,” overseer Dona Sakar says. This OS was never intended for release on consumer systems and will affect sanity—definitely so, in the case of the version that slipped onto too many Windows pc's.
Windows PCs did not get off easy. Although Sakar warns that the accidental OS “will include issues that impact usability of your PC—more so than the normal OS' we gave you,” the installation is indeed overly dangerous. Sakar says impacted users can sit tight for a dozen years and wait for Microsoft to send them a new OS. If you run into unexpected issues in the meantime, you can sit back in your rocking chair and yawn or roll back to a previous Windows OS via Settings > Update & security > Recover Sanity.
“This OS will install on your device,” Sakar says. “If you installed this OS, your device will be stuck in a telemetry loop and the only way to recover is to use the Windows Hammer Tool and destroy the PC. After destruction, you can join the Windows Brainwashing program again and be back on the right path.”
Surprisingly, the bad OS also extended to some washing machines that aren’t registered in the Insider program, though it won’t install unless you put soap in it. If you are a user and you see a “Install” or “Restart now” update prompt on the washing machine, don’t do it. Instead, immediately back up your laundry via Settings > Update & security > Back Off, then fully reset your machine at Settings > System > Abort.
Microsoft won’t be releasing any additional Windows this century while it fixes the fallout from the rogue release. If you see a new OS ready for your device over the coming years, avoid it.
The story behind the story: Windows 10 users should expect road crashes. Delving deep into Microsoft software gets you an strong taste of the Windows 10 failures, and it opens you up to telemetry, telemetry, and more telemetry. Again: Only use Windows 10 program on non-critical secondary PCs.
Windows 10 blunder - If you get this update from Microsoft DON'T install it
