I recently bought a new laptop "Sager NP8173"
It has no operating system so I created a Windows 10 on the USB to install it.
Everything went well...deleted partitions and so on.
It continues to install until I reach the "Finishing Up" status. It is stuck there and the green bar below is at least 70%. The green bar hasn't loaded in a long while now.
Can someone tell me how I can fix this issue?

Make sure no other drives are connected to your system. I had this problem when I had an SD card installed and I formatted 5 times before figuring this out.
Also ensure that you created the ISO using the latest Windows 10 Media creation tool -
The only drive I know so far is the USB drive that has windows 10.
the PC doesn't have a CD Drive so that's out. Is there anything else that might be interfering with?
I only have 1 hard drive. No additional drive, no MicroSSD, no SDs.
UPDATE:
I mounted the Windows file into my USB again and it works.
Unfortunatly, I am left with a new problem
After computer restarts
I am stuck in windows prompt with the circling dots. The circling dots are then frozen and I nothing else happens. Whats going on now?Last edited: Sep 19, 2016 -

Next, when you are in the partition selection screen:
1) press SHIFT + F10 to pull up the command prompt
2) type diskpart then hit enter
3) type listdisk then hit enter
4) note the number of the SSD/HDD that you are installing on
5) type select disk X where X means that drive number
6) type clean then hit enter
7) now go back to the partition selection screen and click the blue refresh icon
8) create the partitions then installPapusan likes this. -
I just can't seem to install it at all. Now It gets stuck during installation no matter what status it is in.
I reformatted my USB drive again. I even redownloaded Windows 10 from microsoft website and the issue continues. -

Yeah im currently checking the BIOS and its on AHCI
I also want to mention that the green light activity stops blinking when it reaches the "Finishing Up" Status. In fact, when the activity light stops, any installation process simply stops as well.
I don't want to jump into conclusions and all, but...is it possible my hard drive is defective? that would be a bummer since I barely got the laptop yesterday.
My hard drive according to the BIOS:
HGST Travelstar 7K1000 HTS721010A9E630
UPDATE:
I tried to install windows 7 and its worse.
Whenever I try to boot from the USB. The screen flashes into black and returns me to the boot menu immediately after 1 second. I downloaded windows 7 again from microsoft and redid the format of the usb and it still continues. I'm out of options and I am losing hope. I fear I may indeed have a defective laptop.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 21, 2016 -

I would suggest trying a different drive, preferably an SSD. Also note that for Windows 7 you need to enable CMS in BIOS -
I think i figured out how to go through the installation
Whenever the status reaches to the unpacking stage, I Immediately remove my USB...from there it is installing everything and actually goes through the "Finishing Up" status.
PC automatically restarted and now I am prompted the windows logo with the circling dots animation. From there I only have that: Circling Dots, this time it is not frozen up (Probably because of the USB removed), Unfortunately I haven't seen any progress for a long time now. Not even the hard drive lights are making any blinks. Is this normal. Last time i got this far...I had the words "Getting Everything Prepared" or something like that.
BTW where do I enable the CMS in BIOS?
my bios is Aptio Setup Utility v. 2.18.1260Last edited: Sep 20, 2016 -

I would try an NVRAM reset at this point if I were in your shoes.

So according to support, the reason it might be freezing is because it is trying to connect to the internet. It also tells me to stick with UDFI enabled.
I don't have access to Ethernet cable yet until I get back home, but just wondering. You think that might work?
UPDATE:
seems the problem remains. I will try something else
I will use an external disk drive and install windows 7 from there. Hopefully all goes well.
my objective is to at least have an operating system working so Win 7.
I also read some reports that Microsoft is still ironing out bugs for Win10 installation (especially those who are installing on a PC with no OS). I'll get back to you on my status.Last edited: Sep 21, 2016Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Go to boot options and disable the 2 network boot options that you see. Now save and exit then enter BIOS again and switch back to UEFIalexpre888 likes this. -
If I enable the UEFI, I have "Network Stack" option...if i enable that...I have 2 more options (Ipv4 PXE Support & Ipv6 PXE Support)
If I disable UEFI...no options appear....
are those the 2 network boot options you mention? -
No, boot from network is exactly that IPV6 and IPV4 are network communication protocols. Boot from network is similar to boot from USB or CD within the bios options.

Good freakin News!
I manage to install an OS.
I used Windows 7....sure it isn't 10...but as long as I have a working OS...everything should go smoothly for me, including upgrading to windows 10.
I did further research into Win 7 installation issues and I discovered that my Laptop has all USB 3.0. I read that 3.0 causes issues with Win 7 installation through USB.
I looked further and found a utility to create Win7 bootable on USB 3.0.
After that, the installation went smoothly.
Despite solving this issue myself, I would still like to thank Phoenix for the long time assist. Thank you very much sir. I feel soooo relieved ha. -

Looks like the problem is "solved" but I thought I would chime in with my experience with a similar problem. I had much the same scenario. When I did get something installed I got BSODs pointing at memory corruption. The Windows memory tests were negative. I finally installed UBUNTU Linux as a troubleshooting tool. It comes with a boot option to run MEMTEST86. When I ran that I got massive memory errors on BOTH sticks. I got a return authorization from the mem manufacturer and sent the sticks back. The new memory solved everything.

I'd advise anyone to use Rufus to create usb install Win 10 as it sets all parameters for EFI install correctly w/o any issues.
