    Thanks for reading:

I have my screen settings set to turn off the screen after 10 minutes of inactivity.
When I got to use my laptop again (Dell xps 9300), I have to sign in again with a pin or fingerprint.

Can I have this turned off for intra-day use and only required upon restarting the machine?

Sign-in Options is actually in the Accounts section. But I still have to click through two screens to get to my recent application after sleep.

right accounts section....sorry. It works for me. selecting "never" under the Require Sign-in (if you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?) section. This way the sign in is only when powering up.

Thank you for your responses but I cant choose any option as the dropdown menu is grayed out.
It says above it in red: Windows Hello is preventing some options from being shown

Ive been having some issues with my fingerprint reader (which is currently on) so that could be causing this.
Ive downloaded fresh drivers and updated the machine but the above alert still remains.

Oh right, forgot about windows Hello, indeed if it is activated, you won't get the option. I only use PIN, not windows Hello, so those options are available. Sorry about that.

I just reset a friend's computer that has windows hello, I tested this. When Windows Hello is activated using the camera to login, the options for sign-in are blocked. Only when windows hello is disabled, using the PIN instead, will the options for sigh-in be available, then you can set it for never.
