If I am transferring emails from Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 to the Windows 10 mail program, are the instructions any different than what is on this page? Is there a particular format I need to use.

    Is it the same program?

Are there any tips to make it easier?

It is not the same program. My only tip would be to continue Windows Live mail client, worked fine for me.

Also are the instructions different than what page?

What is Window Live Mail Client?

I love how all these tech websites make it seem like installing Windows 10 is easy.

Yea. It is easy for an MCSE.

Windows Live mail is a pop3 local client vs. having the mail stay on the server, be that a html based email or other client using imap.

If you already have the email running in Windows 7 or 8 when you upgrade just continue to use that. You may need to set program defaults but that is about it.

I am doing a clean install. Won't that wipe out Windows Live Mail?

Yes it will but you can, if you have a spare drive, set the stores for email and contacts to another drive. I use my original hdd cache iSSD to store my email stuff. In this way it is easy to back up and restore all my emails etc..
