I don't have a single pirated app on my PC nor do I encourage anyone to do so as those cracks or activators are usually full of spyware or viruses.
But the idea of Microsoft going to deep into one's PC just doesn't sound appealing to me.
Aside from all the quirks, forced driver updates, etc. of Windows 10, this is by far the most alarming one to me. What do you think?
Now even if you download an MP3 which is copy righted to preview it before you buy it, or you download a movie to see if it's worth purchasing, you go to jail my friend.

If you go to the list of covered services Windows 10 is not listed. Office 365 is though.

Agreed, 110%. Their EULA is scary enough without this too. It does make you think twice about using anything on that list!

We will all be waiting to hear your review of the new build which will be released soon, you will get the ability to choose different colors for your taskbar and start menu, yay! Micro$h4ft is listening right?LOL

TBH, if the colors also include transparencies it may then be a plus. Still that driver issue is a huge one but again TBH fixing the killer of LCD's issue is of greater importance.

I cannot prove it, but I have a feeling our friends at NVIDIA made a mistake that is causing that, but that mistake might be something Micro$haft required for WHQL certification that NVIDIA didn't do correctly, too. But, that still doesn't explain the Inspiron laptops with AMD display adapters having their BIOSes bricked during Windows 10 setup. Whether loosely or directly, the Northwest Nazis have to be where at least 50% of the blame belongs. If Windows 10 didn't exist, neither would the mechanism causing the problem. I also have a gut feeling UEFI and Secure Boot cancer are somehow at the root of the evil. The Redmond Mafia has been beating that drum way too hard and all the good little OEMs have been too obedient. Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?

Appears to only affect certain models. Windows 10 bricked my 14Z any advice?
Does your wife's Vostro have InsydeH20 BIOS or AMI/Aptio BIOS? It would be interesting to know which one the 14Z has.
Edit: just checked... Inspiron 14Z has InsydeH20. So do the affected Alienware systems with EDID corruption. And, all of the Alienware Maxwell GPU compatibility problems that require UEFI/GOP and lack Legacy/VGA boot support with Maxwell GPUs are also models with InsydeH20 BIOS.Last edited: Aug 20, 2015 -
You can hardly call them Nazi's. People new the reason they were fighting them.
People would never willing give up freedom. They will happily accept less Freedom under the guise of something that offers them something better or protection.
Anyone feeling the Captain America: The Winter Solider. Has been lost on people.
Oddly the Lyrics to this song if you think of Windows 10 make sense.

What seems to be lost in the mix is that this is not truly a FREE software. Eventually we will be expected to pay for the OS if we want it. Either paying for the software directly or as on a new machine. So in the end we will be paying to hand over our hardware and rights to M$.

Well this thread makes me feel like going back to Windows XP o r even try Ubuntu , maybe this is why Windows 10 is the last version of Windows.

I imagine that Windows 10 and Google are being used to collect information on how people think and what they think about. Anyone (or anything) with this ability has the ability to predict behavior of individuals, and profit-seeking entities will use this information to do what they do best: profit.
Now that Windows 10 has all this monitoring stuff, I imagine it will only become worse over the next 5-10 years. I've heard that Windows 10 will be the last iteration of Windows (i.e. there will not be a Windows 11, but rather a Windows 10.1, 10.2, etc.). Nearly 1.5 billion people already use Windows.
Micro$oft is going to become even more powerful in that regard with EVERYONE using Windows 10 by streamlining OS's. -

I would not be surprised when Microsoft gets hacked, and their sensitive information is made public knowledge.
I just used my avast firewall to block all Microsoft incoming and outgoing communications.

They are like the government, once they get their acts passed the public it just gets worst and worst. M$ just looks at it as essentially what will they tolerate next? As it is they are not far from literally not just seeing but controlling your digital life in all repects including locally. Even your work flow/products will not be sacred, it will all be exposed. As I've said too we will be paying for the privilege of being watched as well.
We all understand where smart phones and related tablets get us. This is the way it is with the devices now. This also was the distinction too as a PC was a private device to be used for work product that could be interfaced to our devices. Now M$ just wants to turn the PC into one of those devices, this will not do at all!
Essentially, if they have their way, each home will require 2 PC's. One with their new OS service to exist as a device for gaming etc. Then yet another with Windows 7 or Linux for productivity work. You could look at dual booting as an option as well.
Edit, if you dual boot I would suggest Linux with ext4. The reason is dual booting Windows 7 will normally expose both NTFS partitions to Windows 10.Last edited: Aug 20, 2015Mr. Fox likes this. -
So, do you all read all the EULAs for your programs? Cause most software ones contain TONs of CYA-language that probably wouldn't stand up in court, and certainly sounds scary as hell.

There's a great line in a popular Eurythmics song "Sweet Dreams" sung by Annie Lennox that is exactly what you are talking about here with regards to Microshaft's intentional abuse of us and their duped customer base....

Some of them want to get used by you....
Some of them want to abuse you,

So what is this? Microsoft is the ePolice now? Are they trying to get people to not use Windows anymore? What constitutes illegal? Can I run a trainer along side an old game to get some hacks/cheats to play the game in god mode? Will MS not allow me to play games any more then because it's using an alternate exe? If I put some mp3's in my public dropbox folder is that constituted as illegal and Microsoft will not allow any file transfers from my PC to the dropbox IP? I mean this is scary crap. Why do they care? This will drive people away. All of a sudden someone's PC stops working or parts of it do because Microsoft decides so? (sarcasm) Yeah, that's an OS that I want to use. (/sarcasm)

Imagine all those poor computer n00bs who just wanna surf the net, watch movies, and download MP3s, they think it's so innocent, they go to Best Buy and buy their little teenagar a new shiny laptop with Windows 10, a couple of months later, the FBI knocks on their door to arrest them -

The sad part is this really could happen. At work today we were talking about this very same thing. I bet this is going to hurt computer sales for sure. -
