This depends on how old is the computer and what was the Original O/S OEM that it came with. If it was XP, Vista that isn't going to work so as it goes older and older they will not work because not only the O/S but hardware/software driver won't load or not load correctly causing BSOD after BSOD. So the age of the hardware starts to come into play as you try to load onto older system that had older O/S system. If it came with Win10 loading Win11 with the right driver should be uptodate or it will use Win10 drivers to work on Win11 system. So there are limits to hardware that can install and use Win11. And for those older system unless it came from the "Manufacture" don't use those online unknown/unverified sites to load uptodate software because those will contain "Adware" and worse "Malware" causing more infections but you will never know it unless a computer shop scans the HDD or SSD to find and remove the infections.

This update really is about Windows 10 users being left out of Windows 11... My New MSI Laptop came with Windows 10 and was offered Windows 11 on 1st update, I got it on a Black Friday Sale through Walmart, I checked every day and then bingo it was available.
There is even a shorter way to upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10 , it's on YouTube -

My supposition is if it work and is stable with Windows 10 going Windows 11 benefits zero in return. Why break something that works for that system and like the topic not all hardware or software are updated nor will they be updated to work with Windows 11 unless you buy their newer Software or hardware to work with Windows 11. This is a business and they aren't going to update their software for free so you can use Windows 11 system. Plus we have no background on what system this was on or tried to install on to know what if anything this system can handle Windows 11. Windows 11 isn't the same as Windows 10 there are always changes that won't translate to windows 10 hardware or software to work on Windows 11.

though those users can always upgrade thru iso install media to upgrade to newer win11 builds when those come out -
Older Notebooks will get feature updates yet won't be able to run them eg graphics card with 11_1 Direct X wont run features in 12_1 in Windows 11, yet are perfectly stable running Windows 11. I have two notebooks that have unsupported HW and have the latest updates Win 11 updates with all the features, yet only Direct X 11_1 support and are perfectly stable. Toggling off Secure Boot in Bios Windows 11 won't install and says unsupported hardware and stops.... Keep coming with the comments though, it's entertaining.
Off the topic I just clean installed M$ Windows 11 on SK Hynix Gold P31 NVMe Gen 3 Drive with 128 Layer NAND Flash. Hynix bought Intel's SSD Division, Hynix has the Crown now for fastest Gen 3 NVMe and are bargain priced to boot... No special driver to download works off regular Windows NVMe driver. On MSI Laptop--Micro Star International Laptop, next upgrade 8 GB of Hynix DDR 4 3200 Sodimm from one of their marketers for dual channel.
Using this same drive on NVMe USB 3 C port, in SSK enclosure the Read/ Write is 2.0/ 2.1 GB/s Read/Write
Read Speed is how fast a file is opened on a drive
Write Speed is how fast a file is created on a drive
