would installing vista 64 bit to utilise all 4gb of ram that is on my hp dv5 series notebook increase the speed of cpu intensive tasks such as video encoding?
Also, would I encounter any problems with any programs once I have installed vista 64 bit?

, i won't bother installing 64 bit

Awww Greg...don't be such a sour-puss. 64-bit is not a "hassle"...it's a "joy" even though sometimes it can be an "adventure" =D
Besides...personally, Vista x64 feels snappier and more solid to me than the x32 flavors. -
Agreed. Vista 64-Bit, atleast on my Sager is smooth as silk!

I bet it's "smoother" on my Vostro...I propose a trade. I'll part with my Vostro for your Sager, straight up...so that you can have the ultimate computing experience.

64bit is nice, do not get me wrong. It is just that the OP already has 32bit installed, already has all his programs figured out, and has a single problem that is not going to be solved by moving to a 64bit OS.
If you want to, fine! But for this problem...that's like putting a band-aid on your knee when your forehead is bleeding. -
Hahaha...I wasn't doubting the validity of your answer...just the shame you were laying down on the beloved x64. ;P

lol no Greg... I was just posting a generic reply to the 64-Bit comments.
Windows 32 bit or 64 bit??
