I am having problems with my itunes store sign in.

Each time I try to authorise my computer/ sign in to store/ play a song which I have downloaded from itunes, it brings up a sign in box, seconds later itunes crashes out on me before I can even enter my account id and password.

Has anyone else had / got this problem and any solution?

    both.
x64 crashed out so i decided to install x86. It did the same thing, so i reinstalled x64 again.

Great, now reinstalling it and plugging in my itouch, it says it cannot be used as software not installed for it, asks me to reinstall 64bit... which it is!

I have had some trouble with iTunes not opening at all, but nothing like what you are having. Have you tried to completely uninstall, delete all folders, and run a registry cleaner for the iTunes files and then reinstall?

Exactly what I did, no luck.

A switch back to 32bit solved all my problems... think I will give 64bit a crack at when I build a new machine, hopefully the 64bit itunes will be more stable by then.

Sorry to read this because I'm a Win 7 Beta tester and I tunes 8.1 never crashed on win 7 before here. I have an Iphone 3g and have to use it.

So? There is a win 7 forum that I'm on where maybe the It professionals on there will help, they have been beta testing win 7 from day one and with programs like Itunes, but its suspect mine works fine with win 7 32 and 64 Ultimate and yours does not? Something is wrong.

If you go there you will get better help but if you post here
Itunes version (I'm using 9 and I pulled it up and mine works fine I'm in the app store now)

do you think a fresh install of the OS could help? I mean you don't have much to lose, right?

Bit late to try now, i'm fully sorted with 32bit now, everything installed and working, don't want to fresh install 64bit again.
