So on my ASUS laptop in my sig, whenever i press Fn + F1 to make it go to sleep, if i try to wake it up be pressing any button, it will load up and the keyboard will light up but the screen will remain black. so everytime i do this i am then required to do a force shutdown and this basically defeats the purpose of even having a sleep function on my laptop.

i looked it up briefly online, and this was the only " related fix" i could find and it was pertaining to windows 7 ultimate installs anyways. i have home premium, and im still unsure whether it's a machine issue or on my windows 7 install. ive heard of the whole "under heavy load it wont respond" but i only have very few items open when i put it to sleep so it shouldn't have a problem.

any help to this issue would be great, i really hate going in between classes and having to shut off my computer instead of putting it to sleep. thanks!

    Hi,

this might be a driver that's running amok. Perhaps the VGA driver. See if there is an update.

^^ Second that, the VGA driver might need to be updated/re-installed.

There was this problem on alot of the Dell studio xps16 series. Dell released a Dell system software pack that contained windows KB hot-fixes that solved the problem.

The Dell system software probably wont work on ur system if its not a Dell so ul have to wait for Service pack 1 that contains all the fixes.

Or I think you can search the unreleased KB articles for the specific fix but i think theres somewhere in the region of 600+

Alternatively you could try service pack 1 beta

Same problem here..after sleep it eventualy turns on and work for a minute or two, then it just freezes itself. I didn't pay much attention to that, since hibernate works just fine for me.

hmm, i dont like hibernation as much since it takes so long to just simply shut off and turn back on (still booting up BIOS etc.). any reccomendations on drivers? 257.21, 195.62, or stick with 186.82?
