Hi people, i'm opening this thread to know if someone is having any issue with W7 and CPU consumption.

i have the nbook @ my signature and sometimes when i am @ MSN everything freeze for 1 or 3 seconds and then continue normally. I have checked the consumption at taskmgr and it says that at those moments its about 40 or 50 %

I read on other forums that this is a problem with the allmighty csvhost that keeps bothering since windows XP first versions .. can be this the cause of those little freezes ?

    Thanks a lot !

The process is called "svchost" and it's simply a service host. It's an application that elevates the privileges of another app to service level, basically. "svchost" can run any number of different programs, from mouse configuration drivers to taskbar widgets and so on.

What have you changed since you started noticing this excessive CPU usage? Can you predict when the usage happens, and watch the process list to see what process is using all the CPU when it happens?

without more knowledge of when it happens, it is hard to diagnose.

When did you get the computer?
    What software have you installed?
What devices do you have installed on it or plugged in?
