These are hot. Microsoft should hire this dude. He shot these in three days.
I've always hated Computer ads in general. They look and feel like they were designed by an engineer, not an artist. A recent episode of Mad Men give a good example. The copywriter, Peggy, writes an ad looking for a roommate. It's informative, responsible and grammatical. Joan, the low neck line/decolletage office manager, comments her ad sounds like stage directions from a play. She spices up Peggy's ad and adds some "fun" to it.
This is what the computer industry needs. More artists. More people willing to take risks.

I don't like how at the end of each one they name just one major feature of Windows 7. Otherwise, they're meh.
-
At least they not as creepy as the Palm Pre ads.
-
At least they are 100X better than XP and Vista ads.
-
I'm getting a "private video" message. Anyone else?
-
-
There are actually 5 of them. These are the only three uploaded though. Not bad for three days worth of work.
-
I'm impressed. Very creative, and no Apple bashing needed to promote this. I loved the first one the most, very cute.

I hope no more I'm a PC ads. Just ads like these from now on. I like how the ads are like "silent films" or something.
Its gonna be a bit ironic that the personalization was a netbook, and most netbooks will have Starter, which takes personalization away. -

it's not clear yet if most will have starter. starter is a bit cheaper, but in our region, i still guess home premium will be on most...
-
Starter will not be sold in stores. It will for specific netbooks with big OEM's only. It's basically a virtually free Win7 to compete with Linux.
-
I'm glad to see these conceptual ads return to those solid roots. Some were a little "ummm...." but overall pretty good. -
I could care less which features it showed off.
This is what I was talking about when I said the industry needs more artists. You'll find that ads are a terrible place to educate the public. People just don't retain much information spit at them after a 30 sec ad.
What they DO retain for a long time is the emotions conjured during the ad. So the point of ads is to turn a neutral stimuli into a positive stimuli. -

The last thing I want to see is Windows ads that target annoying hipsters. Let's be honest here; MS' competition here is Mac. Mac has pretty much cornered the hipster market. I think the best tac for MS to take is "hey, you want a machine that runs 98% of the software on the market? Want to have more choice than off white or aluminum? Like not looking like a mid-20's hipster (aren't they so annoying)? Buy Windows." Obviously I'm not a marketing guy, but I think that is the message to go for.
