Okay isn't Windows 7 supposed to come with Microsoft Works as well?

I just installed the upgrade disc that I had for a friend onto his desktop and for some reason I can't find MS Works ANYWHERE...

I thought that it was a free program that automatically came with all versions of Windows 7....am I mistaken?

And when I went to MS website to try and download it, it looks like they are charging for MS Works 9.0....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope works was never a part of any OS, it does come preloaded as bloatware on some computers though

    Oh I see...

I don't really see it as bloatware. Especially if one can't afford Office.

Oh well thanks for the info. Always learn something new here.

Or you can use Google Docs.

Such a sad day to see people who can't afford Office. My little 11 yr old cousin has been using Office for all his book reports. The kid uses drop caps, columns and even is a hack with tables. Really puts the coworkers to shame.

It's more like the friend can't afford it. At least not right now.

Anyways I'll let him know about Open Office. Can you save whatever you type with that program in the .docx file format?

I would hope so, otherwise that would be a big FAIL.
