on an Enterprise level, the updates had to broken down into two chunks via wsus.
First of all, load and install all of the .Net updates (four of them I believe).
Then a reboot.
Next time the workstation connected to wsus, all of the other updates get run in.
(there are between 9 and 15 other updates depending on an Office 2007 or Office 2010 load)
And another reboot.
If we tried to use the install order (random?) that MSFT presented the patches, we had install and then reboot failures.
Might be something to do with the way our images were built. Maybe not.
This has happened to us before and every time it did, separating the major .Net updates from any other update got us through the process. Someone in desktop engineering has opened a ticket with msft asking . -
Same as 3fees, thanks for reminder on round 2 !

Yes, it is too late to mention this news, but it is better late than never.
For those who reinstall Windows in the future and wish to manually install Internet Explorer 9, please download and install instead the updated installer from these links:
Internet Explorer 9 for 32-bit Windows 7
Internet Explorer 9 for 64-bit Windows 7
Don't worry, as these links are from Microsoft. The installers in Microsoft Download Center are outdated.
