I know that my current windows 7 RTM Build is 7600.16385.
I wanted to know if this is the final RTM build. If it is good for me. If it isn't , how do i uprgade to the final RTM build? Is it installed using windows update or do i have to download windows 7 again?
Thanks.

where did u get this RTM build? If u got it from technet or some other similar service, it is the final build and is the same that ships on DVDs
-
I am trying to find build 7600, Do you know where I can get it?
-
well the only legal way to get it online, is to buy a technet subscription or through some partnershipp between schools and MS,
anything other than that, its illegal -
Well I did this being I purchased a copy of vista 2 monthes ago and Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade will only cost me $9.99.

Do a MD5 hash as well as a SHA-1 Hash and compare it to the official iso images.
If it matches then you probably have the real deal. -
That's the build I had when I installed my RTM version, but after running the Windows updates that were released by MS (downloaded seperately), my build version now is :
7600.20510
and I have Windows XP Virtual mode! that's basically a minimzed fully functional windows xp system that runs as a seperate program ! -
How do you check the build version?
-
1) in the run box, type: regedit
2) navigate to:
hkey_local_machine\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENTVERSION
3) double click on the key called BuildLabEx
You'll see the build there (the first few digits) -
or, possible easier, from start menu | run type
winver -
that doesn't give you the complete build number. just the basic 7600....but nothing more
-
The last 5 numbers means quite a bunch...

From what i checked i got build version 7600.16385... where can i get the update for build 7600.20510 in which i can run virtual windows xp mode..
-
updates from here....
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=426022
then virtual pc from here....

Just one more thing... does this virtual pc mode speed up or slow down your system and how is it useful?
-
It doesn't speed up or slowdown your pc.... it just allows you to run multiple OS sessions virtually as the name implies...
how is it useful...picture this, you have an application that you HAVE to run under XP but the XP compatibility mode in W7 or Vista doesn't do the trick... this is where the XP virtual mode comes in handy....where it loads a virtual XP session....full functional
so u can work under XP
-
Thanks guys. I have 7600.16385 (same as OP). I have applied all updates offered via Windows Update, but I'm not at 7600.20510 like Maximus. Why is that?
-
1 sec... your'e saying that windows xp will run in the background while this app is loaded?
-
because these updates will not be released until the retail version is out in the market. i got them through MSDN ahead of time.. they're genuine and they improve the overall system functionality / security / speed.... and they update the build number
-
press the windows button. type System Information in search. and open it. the full string is there too. -
Hello , could someone explain to me what are the advantages of windows xp virtual mode? Will it allow my old 2002 games work better?
-
Thanks, but that just gives the build number, not the revision. At least thats how it works on my system; shows build 7600 but not that it's 7600.16385
-
on my machine it gives the full build string.
