Here is the list of what annoys me the most. Would be great if someone knew some quick fix for these:

    1. No matter how many times I click "Use opera as the default browser" on Opera start, it never actually sets itself default.

    2. Customization of notification icons resets itself on every reset and I have to set to hide/show my 12 icons again and again.

    3. I cannot set .DOC files to be associated with Word. I click "Open with..."/Change/Browse. I select WinWord and click OK but there is no effect - it is still opened by WordPad. With every other file type/program this method works, but not with Word.

Which build are you using? Had similar problems on 7000.

it is 7000 as there is no newer release of Server.

I solved bugs 1 and 2 but 3 is a hard one. I even tried editing .doc assignments in registry but it is locked and cannot be unlocked.

Oh, I tried all the methods of changing the permission, from built in windows admin tools to dedicated console tools downloadable from microsoft. Nothing worked.

Yeah, but that sounds more obvious than 2008 R2. There already is 2008 Server and someone could confuse the two. It happens, I kid you not.

    admin tools? console tools?

right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.doc and chose permissions. it can't be that only those don't work, as they are all in the same file stores, then. except if it's a per-registry-key-permission setting.

I've been there. It won't let me change permissions no matter what I do.
