With Windows 7’s new Taskbar, and most notebooks today being widescreen, I think I have finally become a fan of putting the Taskbar on the side (right side preferably)—which is something I thought I’d never do, but it only took me several hours to get used to it. The new Taskbar is far better than the former (even if I think it’s a bit ugly and stil has room for improvement) and having it on the side provides me with a little more vertical screen real estate—which is sorely needed with widescreen. So, NotebookReview.com fans and Windows 7 early adopters, where are you putting your Taskbar in Windows 7?
Cheers.

because i only have 1440x900, i can't afford to waste any multitasking space horizontally - ergo, my taskbar's on the bottom.
-
Bottom. I've never been a fan for another position.
-
Bottom. I find it interferes more with firefox and other apps that I have maximised if it's not at the bottom.
-
You say that the new taskbar is ugly? Is Aero not enabled for your system? It's much better than the previous taskbar implementations, especially with the preview windows for IE8, and the ability to just hover over one of the previews for a quick glance at the window.
I put my bar on the left now, since I have a widescreen. It used to be on the bottom but the enhancements make it worthwhile for the left. -
i have it on the left, it is easier to use
-
Bottom for me, It just looks natural there. I guess I just don't like change. I can see how W7's new taskbar design works better in vertical mode though, since there is no text to the buttons by default, it looks better.

I tried it on the side ...and it is weird...can't get used to it...
-
you can just right click and select "small icons" to shink the bar just a bit.
-
Though I don't have Windows 7 just yet, I know it'll sit comfortably at the bottom, as with previous versions.
-
-
Left side. I have a 16:9 aspect ratio and figure I've already lost too many pixels vertically. I had it on the right but I kept hitting the start menu instead of closing the window.
-
Same here, on the left side on 16:9 widescreen

I actually use my taskbar on the left side in XP and Vista, due to the low resolution of my Dell's screen (1440x900... not much vertical space) and how many applications I normally have open (don't like the apps sharing taskbar space). However, Windows 7 really messed this one up. Moving the bar to the sides makes it huge, and takes up far too much space. This doesn't happen when you have it set to hide labels, which I'm trying right now. I'm not sure I'll like that yet, but we'll see.

Bottom as standard

I tried it at the side but hated the way it was much thicker than when it is on the bottom and using smaller icons didnt rectify this so it stays on the bottom for me
