I installed Windows 7 on my cheap Compaq notebook just to play around with it. I'm very impressed so far.

I initially used the Vista 32bit drivers for Intel GMA 4500MHD GPU on my Compaq. Doing a Windows Update, it recommended new Windows 7 beta drivers, which I installed, and made a definite improvement in graphics performance.

However, I do not have a control panel to modify settings. I am mainly interested in adjusting the aspect settings. Any ideas?

I found using the Vista driver from intel yielded both better performance (3D game wise) and then gives you the control panel applet.

Yes, its weird the date is close to the Windows update one but the number is 7.X.XX vs 8.X.XX. Anyway the only difference I found was that I wasn't able to use the dimming feature of the display (i.e. dim after 3 mins and set brightness level) until I had installed the W7 beta one first, but then I could install the intel website one over it and it would continue to work fine and with better performance.

For anyone interested, I have an Acer Timeline (w/4500MHD graphics) that I was trying to hook up to my 1080i TV (32w6 Westinghouse) via HDMI, but aside from 1920x1080 (too bad I don't have a 1080p TV), Windows 7 would only give me a couple other resolutions to output to it - 640x480 and 1920x540 (very strange, and this one was "recommended" no less).

I had to download the Intel driver directly from the above link, which gave me the Intel graphics control applet, and let me choose 1280x720 in addition to several others (but 1360x768 still not available). This looks ok, but 1360x768 over VGA is better.

Stupidly (and I won't back away from that comment like Obama), Intel has not updated the driver for the 4500MHD to allow 1360x768 over HDMI, while they have added a bunch of useless resolutions you would never use over HDMI. Naturally, HDMI is going to be used >95% of the time with a TV, which needs either 1360x768 or 1920x1080.

BTW, Powerstrip does not work when I tried to add the 1360x768 resolution. See others having this same issue here and here.
