So i just installed windows 7 today, i was wondering if the 2005 redist version of c++ is compatible with it. I was installing new ati drivers and it said the installation of that failed, as well as when i manually downloaded the x64 version of it, the installer runs, configures files and then just exits.

I had the same problem with my installation of my ATI HD 2600 on win 7 64-bit. The only difference is that I got no error messages during the install, but at the very end it just said the install failed. Looking through the log file, all the ATI components installed except for the C++ redist, and the driver and s/w worked so I'm not really sure what happened.

I had this problem when I was running the RC. I had to run it in compatibility mode.
It no longer pops this error in the RTM. -
I know that AdAware will install it's own complete copy of MSC++ redist whether or not you have it installed elsewhere. Very frustrating and space consuming that Lavasoft hard-codes the msft libraries that way.
Windows 7 and visual c++ redist.
