Phoenix Instant Boot BIOS is a new Instant Boot BIOS, a highly optimized UEFI implementation that can start loading an OS in just under a second. Combined with Windows 7's optimized startup procedure, one can see incredibly short boot times -- Windows desktop in about 10 seconds!!

I believe this has already been posted before.

At any rate, I'll hold off on being impressed until actual, purchasable systems ship. The Intel Turbo Memory demo way back when also showed XP booting in about 10 seconds, and we all know how much of a disappointment that turned out to be in real life situations.

I dont think it was posted before. It was a fake video in which Win 7 resumes instead of restart.

No. I remember that one. There was another demonstration where there was a link to a video of a Lenovo Thinkpad with the BIOS.

Whatever, but the BIOS seems to be real fast and I am not sure if it gonna be same if you have tons of startup apps.
Also, what are other benefits from this BIOS?
If it starts that fast, then it should increase overall performance or it is limited to instant boot only?

General Performance is determined by Operating System, Aplications and Hardware.
BIOS passes control over to OS after initialization so there is no way it can improve general performance.
The only optimization they can do is reduce boot time.

Booting in a few seconds? That's simply stunning. The video was great but we must not forget that it's the world's fastest "booting computer" and I doubt that the laptops with Windows 7 will be as fast as that one.
