Windows 7 build 7100 (RC1) leaked

This build has just been leaked today.

Apparently build 7100 is the RC for Windows 7. I'm running it now and it appears to work as it should.

 

This is discussed in the Windows 7 thread already.

 

leaked means MS want you to try it and fix it so they can fix it better for us though

 

There isn't another thread on the RC and as this is a more special release than a random build getting leaked, it's not a bad idea to have its own thread.
PS: Sorry, but I haven't checked for other posts or threads before creating this thread.

 

How did you get this build??? I still have the one I downloaded from Microsoft, early build.

 

I have resources.
It's been leaked to a lot of torrent sites by the way.

 

Did you do a clean install or did you upgrade from 7077?

 

I did a clean install. I have had Server 08 installed before.

 

I will wait for the official RC release. But looks promising.

 

I guess you can wait until the 5th of May...

 

7100 is the final RC. Should appear on MSDN between today and the end of next week and public release in 2 weeks.

 

hi, not to sound stupid or anything since i havent been following windows7 but what does the term RC mean?

Also, does this mean that win7 is finally out of beta and will now be distributed to OEMS for shipping with their new notebooks.

 

RC is the release candidate, so its not quite the final release, but its getting close.

LOL, I imagined as much...I actually don't want to go that way, thought there was a more reliable way, as the one that was released through MSN.

I did that and tried looking for the leaked version. i just don't want to go through torrents. Will try again, and it was just a question to see if he was able to let me know, no hard feelings whatsoever.

I guess now I can finally try out 7 since I'm pretty sure the RC is solid and stable. And yes, it has been released to torrent sites and downloading it from a private torrent site pretty much eliminates the probability of it being fake but since we're not allowed to talk about illegal stuff on the forum, we can't actually say any of the sites but a quick search on Google actually reveals a lot.

 

i did try to upgrade from 7106
but it keeps on saying that i can't upgrade since i have a newer version is installed on my machine

Yes, you can do an upgrade from 7077 with no problem!

And I just installed 7077 version a few days ago (I like a clean install... ).

 

Both TPB and mininova have pulled a number of so-called 7100 torrents because users have complained about re-packaging, additions/deletions, incomplete, modified, etc. Such 'bad' torrents continue to pop up though as fast as older ones are put down.

I've had my share of downloads from torrent sites in the past...I am not being a...it is just that for once I wanted to avoid going that way. But anyways, I will do a little search and get it from mininova probably ...who knows.

One more thing, I was not complaining about sharing or not, everyone is entitled to do whatever they like. I was trying to avoid unneeded conflicts here.

 

I believe you can also d/l it from rapidshare, although you'll have to pay for the minimum premium account since the d/l consists of 12 parts, each of which is about 200MB.

 

Yep, that's why I'm fighting the temptation to download now and wait till the 5th. But with links to the official MD5 and SHA1 already posted on this forum it's getting harder and harder to fight the temptation.

Well...4 more days till it is released...it was a waste of time for me to download it Via Rapidshare when I read the news...but hey...it was worth it at the time...

I was not stating any news...I was just saying that I had wasted my time downloading through rapidshare since it was so close to being released.

Note: the thing is that I was not up to date with the release info on Windows 7 until the date I posted.

 

Free rapidshare account can download all 12 parts of W7 RC perfectly. You just need to wait between downloads since it'll max out your daily bandwidth limit.

If you can't wait, download it through torrent. I finished download RC in less than 25 minutes to download through torrent. I'm getting more than 20Mbit/s (3500KB/s) download speed through torrent from demonoid over my internet connection.

 

Anyword on the expiration date on RC1? I assume its like....January 30th 2010? Im actually thinking of trying it out since Ive heard so many good things about it. Also, about how big is an install of Windows 7 64-bit ( whichever version the RC is )?

 

the "real" untouched W7 x64 is 3.05GB, dont download any that are 2.85GB or around that size..

My expiry date says 3/1/2010 4:59PM.

 

If anyone with a real MSDN account has the real MSDN MD5/SHA hashes (from MSDN, NOT from a torrent upload) would you post them here please.

please guys, whatever you do, do NOT try and download the RC from a filesharing or P2P program. i tried this, and AVG found something like 86 Trojan files in the DL file. i've learned my lesson, and i'm deff waiting until tuesday...

 

i'm waiting til the 5th though, hate download from rapidshare. last win7 build i used was the 7000 so im really looking forward to the rc.

 

so what is so exciting about win 7?

I have 7068 installed and I know I have to get used to it before I can fully appreciate it (strange stuff like how the task bar functions, cant click my quick launch firefox button anymore to open a new window after FF is open)

I know its supposed to fix a lot of the Vista shortcommings but me personally I had no Vista shortcommings and when I did my game tests hoping to see better performance every single one of my tests gave me lower scores than Vista even with the new Win 7 video drivers that say "performance increase in Win 7, faster than Vista" something like that.

Crysis went WAY down and that was the game I needed the boost in the most.

So what I am asking are what the core improvements? The things that actually make it better than vista and not just a variation of it.

What makes you like Win 7 more and worth it to upgrade?

I want it for best support of everything what I connect in to my laptop
Have it recognized. I dont want to see unknown or not supported etc.
HDMI,BLU-RAY,HDCP, (not 100% still)
All kinds of memory cards mobile phones printers, etc. everything (CF-Cards not supported or provided completly by microsoft that's bad !)
Proper support for SSD's in future .. (still not 100%)
I expected that all drivers and controllers will be updated but they are not.
still they are from 2006 .
