    Windows 7 clean install error

    i'm trying to upgrade from windows vista to windows 7...tried the upgrade process and error
    after going through the trouble of backing up my c drive i decided to clean install...still receive the same error

    Error Message "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation" after completing the second step "Gathering files, settings and programs"


    searched through google and no solution

    are you removing all partitions on the drive? or at least, formatting the existing primary active partition that you wish to install 7 onto? You can recreate that one as well (delete, create) and your other partitions should (assuming you have other partitions) not be touched (but of course, this is why you backup, right?)

    Is it succeeding in removing the partitions on the drive? Or is it failing doing that?
    If it isn't working, you can try running a 1 pass DBAN on it, then try reinstalling 7 again afterwards.

    i fixed the issue by installing windows 7 using a flash drive
