I'm in the process of starting fresh with my Dell notebook that shipped with Seven Home Premium.

As a rule do you guys install all drivers first then install service pack 1 followed by Windows Updates? I really don't think it makes much difference but was curious how you guys and gals approach your clean installs.

I personally prefer service pack and updates first then drivers afterwards. :)

I personally slipstream the Service Pack on the Windows disc itself, I frequently do a lot of clean installs on various systems so it does a lot of save time and hassle rather than doing it separately.

After that its usually the drivers that need attention (such as getting online and fixing the default lo-res screen) then I do the remaining Windows Updates after.

Just to point out for those with Intel's integrated graphics (mainly the HD 3000) and using an UEFI install you have to put the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 first otherwise the system will just BSOD so we don't have a choice really!

I highly recommend getting basic hardward drivers up and running before doing updates and service packs. Well, at least with the VAIO, which is very particular about driver installation order.
