Looks good, that's the way it should be. Did you track down which driver fixed it? Was it the card reader driver?

I am pretty sure it was the card driver.

Thank you very much for your help.

Only thing that is kinda annoying but not really an issue is the touch buttons still don't work.....I don't really use them anymore because overclocking from 2.5 ghz to 2.7 doesn't really do anything except help cause overheating but still, I'm a perfectionist, I'll get it working eventually.....

I just can't believe Microsoft sent me all this crap for Free. I am keeping everything sealed and back in the box. I installed W7 Pro I got from a the Student $30 deal.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8hqR8qMWYk

that being said I can not believe how much faster W7 is running compared to Vista SP2 which I thought was running great.

    Glad to help out. :)

On my Toshiba there's no FM Tuner utility yet for Windows 7 so i'll have to wait for that version. That's one feature I really like and use on my lappy. :(

It was quite noticeable for me as well when I first saw Windows 7 in action for the first time.

As this is a topic regarding the smoothness of 7, i am wondering if 64bit driver support is good as Vista's as i am planning to move to windows 7 pro 64bit with student offer as it is cheap!

However if the support is not as good i may consider 32bit..(means i will have to redownload all drivers as i have prepared for 64bit).

    Thanks for any replies!

Honestly dude, go with the 64bit version. Almost all laptops and desktops sold have a 64 version installed and it is very likely there are drivers for them. I think even vistas 64 drivers work on Win7 64.

+1. Even in a few cases where Windows 7 x64 drivers may not exist, Vista's x64 drivers still work.

If you have a compatible CPU you can still use your CODE to unlock the 64-bit version. Download the files from the designated topic and read through the first couple of pages. There you will find a way to unlock the files so u can be able to choose which version of windows you want to install.

    better than a bicycle ;)

For me, the only software comes with driver updates is Catalyst, which installs fine over the older softwares. I occasionally run CCleaner to tidy up registry and I use Diskeeper to get rid of fragments. The default windows one is ok too.

Win 7 32 bit running flawlessly since I installed it. I do not use anti-virus.

The taskbar autohide seems to get stuck for me at least once a day and requires a re-boot to fix :(

Then kudos are in order to Microsoft's R&D and marketing teams.

Either way, I am enamored with the features found in this fantastic OS.

Windows 7 is awesome. Heck, when the lame Nvidia drivers crash, the entire OS doesn't die. Instead, it becomes "Super Lifeguard Guy" and saves poor poor drowning Nvidia.

    Does that make sense? o_O

yes. just that this is a feature of vista, not win7 per se (and it got stresstested by crappy nvidia drivers right from the start of it's release :)).

but yes, it's awesome, that feature :)

I just installed W7 Ultimate 32 bit. I totally agree with the thread title. Found even the most obscure drivers for my ageing Compal no problem. Fast as hell. Loveeeeee it. :) :) Best OS evar.

I have to agree with the first post. Haven't had any troubles with 7 like Vista had. I know some people had good luck with Vista, but I didn't, and my HP came preloaded with it! Slow boot times, lags, freezes, etc. Windows 7 made it a completely different machine for the better. I mean, I loved how Vista looked but W7 upgraded the looks and made up for Vistas mistakes.

To be entirely fair, Win7 is just as much if not more of an upgrade over Vista than any other recent commercial OS upgrade.

Also, I have to say running ANY other version of windows is now annoying enough to buy Win7 for any box it will run on.

Note, Win7 has also been enough to make a few of our diehard *nix users turn their heads and change their main OS. Many other *nix users have grudgingly accepted Win7 as a "tolerable" version of windows... This by the way is a MASSIVE nod from these users.

We have had a number of mac users switch completely to Win7.

Win7 is indeed the best release version of Windows period.

I still disagree with the hefty price tag for vista->Win7 upgrade... but other than that, this windows release is a victory for pretty much everyone.

I've been running it for a few months now. Even got the balls to install the Lenono Power Manager to re-enable my T400 switchable graphics (now work mostly, aside from a few issues when running on the ATI card as usual).

It's still as fast as a couple months ago. Only thing that's slowed down is after I enter my password and it says "Welcome." That takes a few seconds longer than I remember. I blame Lenovo and Apple's iTunes "package" of goodies.

Also, I keep finding excuses to get out my old MacBook (2006) and use it and play with Leopard. However, I just don't have any. Every time I use it, I just want to use Windows again. What's the world coming to???

Oh, and on the Vista topic. I never had issues with Vista. In fact, I found it to be incredibly stable (one blue screen in a year or so). However, it did feel significantly slower and heavier than 7.

Yeah, I think the Vista bloat and UAC popup annoyances were why ppl really hated Vista. But don't feel bad djshack, I'm hearing about the vast majority of Apple users using Windows 7 as well. It's that good. Why settle for second best?

    Gidday guys

I am still on Vista as I am buggered if I could get W7 to work properly on my Vaio, (then again, I couldn't at the time be bothered hunting down all the correct drivers for the brightness/volume buttons and the other Sony bugbears) I have heard a few stories about battery life being worse than with Vista, anybody got any comments?

    Regards to all.
