I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T61p with Windows 7 Professional installed. When I logged in today using the fingerprint reader, the system started up as if I never had used my account before - none of my files or programs, etc were present on the desktop. In addition, nothing was in the documents, music, pictures, or videos folder that I normally have in there.
Did Windows 7 spontaneously lose all my data? I did not install any software or updates between when I last turned off my computer and right now. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like it logged you into another user account somehow. Check the C:\Users folder, see if there are any new folders in there or anything

There are no other users besides me on this computer. In addition, when I logged in through finger print reader, it did display my name as it appears normally. It did not say Guest account or any other name.
With those two observations, I'm thinking that Windows couldn't have logged me in as another user. This is a huge concern now as I can't seem to log back in to see my documents. -
something like this happen to me once after i typed in my password after hibernation.
it logged me on a guess account, wallpaper was on default, a msg said i was in a guess account and i couldn't access the files on the computer.
i didn't even have guest account on...soo
i just logged out and logged back in, and everythings was back to normal. -
when u click on the start in the task bar what name does it display at the top .
it should be the name of account with which u logged in or your default user account where ur pictures etc. stuff is stored -

If it really happened then its like you hit a jackpot by sueing microsoft. Almost its impossible for that to happen. Its a strange problem never heard or read.
Check the disk space and see if how much is free as if the files are deleted then more space and if same then you must have screwed something. -
And how exactly hes gonna prove it ?
I had the same exact issue with Vista one time, logged in properly and it was like i logged into a different account (with only one account present on the computer). A restart fixed the issue though, never happened again, so far -

If it really happened then let master minds handle his case.

I've had this happen a couple of times on Vista both before and after a clean install. The first time, I freaked out and called tech support. They were able to help me create a different account (as a back-up) and then showed me how to find all the information that was part of my old account. I wish I could remember how they did it for sure. I think it was through Windows Explorer. But I'd bet anything your stuff is there.
