How do I share a printer on a computer with Windows XP with a laptop running Windows 7? Unfortunately, Windows 7 Homegroup doesn't seem to be backwards compatible.

Just share the printer on the XP machine, then add it under the printer and devices option. As long as you have both the XP machine and the printer turned on it should be fine.

Yeah I tried doing that, but the printer couldn't be found when I did a search for it on my laptop with Windows 7.

I'm wondering if the networking in Win 7 beta is backwards compatible at all because I'm having an issue with ICS over an adhoc wireless network between Win 7 and Vista.

My XP machine shares a 500GB HDD fine over the network with a 7 machine and I have another notebook running XP that was connected to a printer via a router and that was able to share the printer too. Only problem I have had is getting it to connect to the HDD share when there is no password set, it doesn't remember the credentials, but once putting in a username it connected fine.
