I've upgraded my VGN-SZ330P to Windows 7 with a clean install. My programs seem OK, except none of the fn keys or S buttons work. l've installed sony drivers but can't seem to solve the problem.
I have a second identical unit to upgrade, but would like to get the first one working fully before I start on my second one.

    Any help?

Did the FN or S buttons work before?

You may need to update your BIOS... Unless you've already done that?

For Sony laptops you'll find that order of drivers is very important - found this searching your model number on the Sony site:
Sony eSupport - Electronics - Support Information
This is a clean install for Vista (but will work same for order) (did so on my daughter's older model Sony).
Just pick the order of drivers as applies to your model. The three critical files normally and the order for the function buttons are:
    1. Sony Shared Library
    2. Notebook Control and Utilities
    3. Notebook Utilities
Normally may ask for re-boots after each is installed.
Try that and see if helps.

PS - welcome to the forums

You should be asking this question in the Sony forum. There are quite a few guides for installing Windows 7 on Sony laptops posted there: like this one.

I agree here - I can really just echo what was said before.

Sony laptops are dependant on their own drivers and libraries - if you don't install them in the right order they won't work.
I think you should be happy if you can get the Fn keys to work - as they are important.

Regarding these problems you have to wonder if its worth going to Win7...
Does the SZ3 come with XP or Vista? If its Vista I'd just stick with that, you wouldn't gain a lot from Win7 unless you have a specific problem with Vista that you hope to see rectified.

Also, consider looking for drivers for older SZ models as the SZ7 - they might help.

Not sure if this link works - but there are Win7 drivers for an SZ7:
    http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/updates/index.aspx?l=de_DE&m=VGN-SZ71VN_X&os=10
(Use Firefox not IE where the laptop is auto identified if you are on your Vaio and manually select it in Sony support)

I know - just installing the OS won't make them run - you need the drivers in the right order - hence check the Sony forum - and make sure you get the drivers and libraries.
