Lately my Laptop has been stuck on an update. Every time I turn it off (about 2-3 times daily) I will have 2 updates. this has been going on for two weeks now. everything looks like it's updating ok, but when I startup, it never tells me it's finishing the update. does anyone know anything about this?

Check for failed updates in the update history.

You can always hide the updates, and you won't see them again. ;)

As you can see here, the update just keeps updating the same thing successfully. very strange.

Try the fixit at this page, if that doesn't work try the manual steps. Basically, it involves deleting the current Windows Update files and letting they download and install again.

How do I reset Windows Update components?

I ran into this exact same problem yesterday on a machine.

One of the .Net framework files is corrupt

    Go here:
Automated cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

and download the .Net Framework automated cleanup tool, run it, and choose .NET Framework 4 (or all) in the dropdown list

Run it, reboot, run Windows update again. I don't recall if it .Net 4 shows up as a critical update or an optional, but go ahead and reinstall .Net 4 and all of its updates.
