Hi
I don't know why this is happening, but I'm guessing its windows 7's network problem rather than the adapter. In my new Asus (sig), i had a stock Atheros wifi card, but now i upgraded it to an intel ultimate 6300 and the problem is still there.
Basically resuming from reboot/hibernate/sleep whatever. The wireless network connection takes about a minute just to connect. I'm on the latest drivers and everything. Any ideas why?

i have this same problem, are you connecting to a static IP ?
-
also this might be a easy fix: try opening Device Manager and under the properties of the wireless adapter, disable any power saving features of the wireless adapter.

Thats what i did for my old adapter and my new one too, nothing has changed.

Exactly what part of connecting takes long? Do you just see the wireless icon taking long?

Well to put it in perspective, that old toshiba of mine rocking in my sig had an Intel 4985 or whatever that card is called as its stock card. It ran great and even going from vista > 7, the wifi would connect instantly to any network around set to connect automatically . The laptop is 2.5 years old. Basically this doesn't happen on my new ASUS, and i thought it was the stock Atheros card, but I upgraded it to the best Intel one around and still no difference.
Basically when i come out of hibernate, the wireless icon will be there, but it wont be connecting to the network automatically for a few minutes, I can shorten that by telling it to connect manually but it still takes a while and gives me the message "connecting to the network is taking longer than usual". If i wanted to connect to networks after it comes out of hibernate, or boot, it will do so instantly. -
are you using the windows built in wireless program or intel pro wireless program? I noticed a similar problem with XP until i installed the intel pro wireless app and that seemed to speed up the connection times and installed better drivers then the default ones that windows auto installed

Using the default windows built in network program.
Windows 7 takes long to connect to wireless networks
