Hey guys. I have this weird issue with Windows 7 on my ASUS G1s. First off, I was able to install all the necessary drivers without any issue.

Now, I have Power 4 Gear Extreme installed so I can use the physical switch to switch between power modes. Anyway, I am running the notebook on High Performance. Sleep, hibernate, turning off hardware/drives is not allowed. I have the screen to go off in 5 minutes of no use.

If I leave the system alone for more than say about 10 minutes or so and come back to it and move the mouse, I can't click anything for a good 1 to 2 minutes. No commands what so ever work (including crtl+alt+delete). And then, suddenly everything will work again.

The AV I am running is Nod32. I am running 64bit Windows 7 LEGIT RTM with 4 gigs of ram. The ram is good and there is no hardware failure. Event viewer is clean.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried reinstalling the ICH drivers? You might want to check Asus site. They often have newer drives than Intel has listed.

idle meaning sleep or hibernation? or does it get slow waking up from both?

By the way, what is "64bit Windows 7 LEGIT RTM"??

I do not mean sleep or hibernation. By "idle" I mean not moving the mouse for long enough such that the screen turns off based on your settings. Whence I move the mouse and the screen turns on again and I can see the desktop, I can move the mouse but I cannot click anything. The system appears to be busy, but cpu usage is only around 3-5%.

By "64but Windows 7 LEGIT RTM", I mean that I have Windows 7 x64 with a legitimate key that was legally obtained (MSDN/Technet) as there are those who quickly respond with something along the lines of "cracked copy".

I Googled for Windows 7 freezing and there are other reports of a very similar issue. All of them on different machines.

I have the same problem with my Windows 7 ultimale (RTM us-version) freh install on Lenovo 3000 N200.

I observe the problem 1 - 5 times each day and I notice disk activity (LED), but can't identify any process (taskmanager, resorce Monitor or procexp.exe)

The problem is annoying, but not fatal.

I didn't observe this problem with Windows 7 RC or beta, which were upgrades from Vista.

I see the same issue intermittently on my Thinkpad W500 with Windows 7 Ultimate X64 (via MSDN). Some days it happens on every "resume"; other times it might go a few days before recurring.

I've been assuming that it's a driver issue of some sort, but haven't tried updating drivers yet. It's also possible that we might need to wait until after October 22nd for a resolution.

Has anyone worked out the issue causing this?

I have it both on Desktop and Notebooks, and I'm wondering where the issues, both mine are x64 and using Nvidia.

My system was issue free for a while after I made this thread. Two days ago, I had this occur again. Don't know what is causing it.

Mine happens at least once/day on my lenovo x61s. Didn't happen when I was running x64 RC with the Kingston SSD. Started happening once I loaded RTM x64 on Supertalent SSD. Not sure the SSD is to blame however.

    i am so annoyed
i have x64 pro version from digital river, clean install

after "idle" my taskbar disappears!!!! i cant get it back unless i log off user.
if the comp gets all the way to sleep mode (after 30min)... it does not have this problem, only if i leave it but before it gets to sleep

i had no idea what was wrong eventually due to an error msg i had the suspicion it was the graphics card. i'm on hp dv4 P8400 with intel integrated 4500 btw. i came on here to look for a way to clean re-install windows, but i guess that might not solve the problem as others have it

so, anyone else losing the taskbar? i also did not have this problem on win7 beta.

I have this exact issue happening on two different computers. One is a Lenovo t400 with 4gigs of RAM, the other is a custom build desktop with an i7 processor, 6gigs of ram, and an ssd drive. The laptop never had this issue with the RC release. As soon as I put win 7 professional on here it started doing it. With the desktop I never had the problem with the RC. I then installed 7 home premium and it started happening. I recently upgraded to ultimate using the windows upgrade and still have the issue. This is all on legit software and keys. Seems to be random, too. With such different software and hardware I am pretty convinced it is some bug within windows itself. Hopefully they will have an update that will fix the issue, but if someone finds one before then please feel free to share. I am just sad that the RC worked waaay better than the final product. Way to go M$, real smooth.

No problems here. Use the up-to-date hardware drivers.
