I have 2 laptops.
1. Having vista home premium
2. Having Windows 7 Release Candidate
I am planning to upgrade both machines to Windows 7. Planning to buy vista ultimate for both machines.
Can i upgrade windows 7 on both machines instead of fresh install(fresh install will delete current os and programs). I have numorous programs installed and using them for business so scared of fresh install.
Kindly advice what i should do step by step for both laptops to do an upgrade installation thereby preserving my currently installed programs.

I assume you meant "Planning to buy Win7 ultimate for both machines."
But to answer your question, you can upgrade the Vista machine. I did so with great result. (See the link in my signature line below.) As for the one with the RC, officially no you cannot. Although I have seen some reports that folks were able to somehow trick the installer into allowing it. I can't locate the link to that at the moment.
