I try to click my speaker icon to open the volume control and nothing happens when I double click it or right click and select volume control.

The only way I can adjust volume is by my keyboard shortcut key or going into sound in control panel then properties and changing levels there.

Any idea how to fix this? I have an on board sound and win 7 x64 ultimate.

Thanks eetuna, I tried those suggestions but they did not work. The only one I have yet to try is a clean boot to see if some program is doing it.

Updating drivers and SFC scan did not work.

Clicking on playback devices work and it brings up the same windows as going to control panel and clicking sound.
