Hopefully this is the right section, if not my apologies to the mod who'll have to move my thread.

So I recently upgraded my Acer Aspire 5672 to the specs in my signature. Everything's been running smoothly so far. However I just noticed that when I go to Control Panel and click SYSTEMS the info reads:

    4.00 GB (3.00 GB usable)

My Bios is 3236, Windows 7 is 64bit, my Intel T7200 is 64bit... I'm not quite sure where I went wrong here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Make sure you go into your system bios and save & exit when doing a ram upgrade.

Often you need to "refresh" the system.

Other than that, it would most probably be a hardware (chipset) limitation.

Yeah, I believe that laptop uses the 945PM chipset.

    Thanks ViciousXUSMC and namaiki.

When reading the info on the List of Intel Chips, it mentions (near the bottom of the page) that the 945PM has a max. memory of 4GB.

However, upon further searching and reading (Found this LINK on NBR forums) I've come to the same conclusion that the Intel 945PM will NOT use more than 3GB of 667Mhz Memory regardless of the OS in use. That sucks, but what can ya do :( . I'll consider this issue closed unless someone can suggest an alternative or workaround.

    Thanks again

Yes its confusing because on white papers they are talking about "Max Memory Address Space" But the computer has to hold about 1GB of that address space for system use, thus only 3gb left over for RAM use.
