I recently purchased an Asus N550JV-DB71, but I ordered it without a hard drive because I had an SSD that I was going to install. It's a Windows 8 laptop, but since there was no HDD there was no Windows 8.

Is there a way for me to install it or will I need to purchase another copy of Win8?

Your W8 license is in the UEFI bios and what you need to do is go to M$ site or related and download the ISO of W8 and burn to dvd or flashstick and use that to format your SSD drive. Otherwise you might need to order if possible the recovery dvd from Asus and use that to format your SSD. But did you get any discount for not including the HDD when you bought the Asus? That HDD would cost little to not much to have to start with.

Yeah the price was lowered a bit. I tried to find the Win8 ISO on windows.microsoft.com, but the only thing I could find required a product key which I don't have.

    Update!

I've got Windows 8 on the laptop now. I found an old OEM windows 8 disc that I used on my desktop, and since the product key is in the BIOS it started right up and installed!
