Note that this is on my desktop computer, so if it's a hardware or driver issue, I'll have to look elsewhere for a solution. However, I thought I'd ask here first because this is by far the best online computing community I know, and there's a decent chance it's an OS thing and not something peripheral.

Has anybody had any experience with Windows 8 randomly minimizing fullscreen applications? This isn't maximized windows but fullscreen applications and games. I have experienced this with Alan Wake, LA Noire, and Phantasmagoria and Phantasmagoria 2 running fullscreen in DOSBox 0.74, pretty much everything I've run full-screen with the exception of video and built-in Windows 8 apps. It usually happens once or twice an hour, possibly at regular intervals, but there's always enough time between drops that I haven't really confirmed it. I could easily live with this, but it's a bit of a pain and I'd rather be rid of the problem if I can. Any ideas or commiserations?

Okay, I noticed over the last couple days that the clock's always at x:59 when this occurs. Does that bring any ideas out of the woodwork?

Never seen that happen, and I've put in plenty of time on Borderlands 2 on my Vaio F2 running Windows 8.

Gotta be a software or driver issue I'm guessing - something that's set to occur every hour at :59 minutes - but I have no idea what it could be. I've noticed it is indeed occurring on fullscreen videos as well - something I didn't recall before. Essentially anything fullscreen gets minimized every hour. Not the end of the world, being a PC user for so many years I've put up with worse on every system I've ever used, but still a bit of a headache.

I might poke around in application settings or ask at a dedicated Windows 8 forum...

Do you have any sort of clock desktop gadgets installed, or auto-maintenance scheduled?

Doubt it's a driver related problem. Did you check your BIOS? The time zone setting there might be off. But I'm still not sure if that's the cause of your apps minimizing. They're not "closing", right?
