    For the record, the article you linked to is oddly written, but I think they were trying to talk about the dropping of Itanium (IA64) for Windows 8 Server. Not that many people know what Itanium is anyway, but it's a unique 64-bit architecture that never got mainstream support. Dropping support for it can't hurt much as far as us mortals are concerned.

    Well Windows Vienna (current 7) was supposed to 64 bits only so I'm not surprised. Windows 8 probably will be 64 bits only altogether.

    a lot of articles in the cult of wiki(pedia) are strangely written. I'd never, ever use them as a source unless their references can be verified and certainly never as a first source.

    As stated, Windows Server 2008 R2 is already 64bit exclusive so the next iterations of Windows Server being 64bit exclusive isn't exactly that shady a fact.
