I have my OS and Program Data on my SSD and my Program Files on my HDD and I'm guessing that is the reason why Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant only gives me the option to "keep nothing". Is there anything I can do about this? I'd really like to keep my programs and stuff and not have to start everything over with a clean install.
    Any advice?

I migrated over to windows 8 off my current windows 7 install since I was in a lazy mood. Not sure why it's not letting you do the same thing? How much extra space you got left on your SSD?

I have around 66 GB free on my SSD and around 35 GB free on my HDD.
Our setups are so similar haha

Well ironically I'm going to need to format my machine again soon because somehow I went from having 50gb free on my ssd to now around 20gb. Not sure what is taking up all my space. :(

I always think it's easier to do a clean install than to upgrade, upgrading seems to be so messy. Because of that, I'm in the habit always of installing important large crud that are time consuming to setup and reinstall on the 2nd drive. First is just OS, or with 1 large disk, small partition for OS, rest for programs etc. Also makes it really easy to just transfer my other files from My Documents, work files etc and backup. Makes reformatting/clean installs easy.

With a clean install, will I be able to have Windows 8 setup the same way I have Windows 7? OS, Program Files, and User folder on my SSD, and everything else on the HDD? And will I lose progress or anything in my Steam games?

    this is kinda off topic.

but shouldn't you install all programs on your SSD "to make use of that fast open that ppl talk about" and keep all data on your HHD *music, documents, movies, ect*

your doing everything the other way around.

I did that the first time, and my boot time dropped like a rock. Now, I just keep the standard install option and install all my games and put my movies on the HD, and everything else goes on my SSD. Works great till you run out of space. :p
