    Windows 8 not installing some programs..

    Hi there,

    I had some problems with W8, so I did a clean install. One of these problems was that some programs wouldn't install, under various error messages - this became more frequent up until the point i ran the clean install. Since then, it's been a lot better, however, I'm getting the issues again. I didn't write down all the error messages, but this one is the most common:

    "Error number: 0x80040702
    desctiption: Failed to load dll: Instutil
    Setup will now terminate"

    The most recent example was with this program - InterVideo DVD Copy - Download

    Anyone have any ideas? I've searched, and found that this was a common error with the game FEAR a few years ago, but nothing on a more general scale...

    From the link you give it is not compatible with Windows 7 so I doubt it is compatible with Windows 8...............
