    Hello guys
i installed Windows 8 Pro on EFI mode on my macbook air 2011 and have a problem: right after the first welcome dialog after the install (nothing configured yet) my computer freezes.

Does any1 have an idea on how to get my windows boot correctly?

Windows dual boot on a Mac platform might be tricky (especially considering Windows 8 has so many issues just on IBM based systems already).

Try reinstalling it; it's possible that certain files didn't copy over correctly. Unfortunately, I'm not a seasoned Mac user (hopefully one day), so it's hard for me to troubleshoot your system. :( Have you asked around at any Mac forums?

Windows requires UEFI 2.0, Macs only have (legacy) EFI 1.1. It simply won't work because Windows relies on features that don't exist in the older standard.

Is there any reason why you can't just use Boot Camp?

    thanks for your replies.

the official apple page where you can download the firmwares says that my Macbook (Air 2011) has EFI 2.5.
i need UEFI because of a external GPU setup. i've read here in the eGPU topic that for full eGPU support you need windows installed with EFI boot.

2.5 is a software version, not what is actually embedded in your machine.
