    Windows 8 until hardrive crashed

    Hi,
    I had windows 8 from when i bought my dell 7520 now my hardrive has broke im wondering is there anything i can do to not have to pay for a new operating system when i already had one on the hardrive that broke? Will windows give me a free one?

    The easiest way is to contact Dell support via their 800 number and request a recovery disc with the operating system. It should activate even with a different drive and you probably won't need to enter the activation key as it's probably embedded in the BIOS as part of "secure boot".

    The other way is to download the Windows 8 OS and install it on a USB thumb drive.
