I sense Win8 being christened the illegitimate child of Windows Vista real soon here. -
Sometimes I can't tell if Microsoft is serious about RT, or if it's just a backup plan they keep around in case Intel goes belly up.

I thought it was a spur in Intel's side to get serious about tablet-friendly processors. Which Intel promptly did with Haswell and Bay Trail. But by the time that happened, Microsoft had probably already started work on the Surface 2, and being a big ship that changes direction slowly, decided not to pull the plug on it. Would Intel had been so focused in the past year or so on battery life and fanless-design-friendly CPUs if there hadn't been this threat to move a chunk of the PC world over to ARM? We'll never know for sure, but I doubt it.
