Ok so I know where windows 8.1 puts all it's files when you agree to update through the Microsoft Store. I was thinking great, now I can simply transfer those files to a bootable usb stick. The issue is when transferring those files to a bootable usb stick, or any external source, there are files which apparently have too long a name...and an error pops up. This must be the source of the issue, because when I skip those files, and try to boot up to that usb stick, I get an error with windows. I'm fine with windows 8, but I would like to just store a good working usb bootable stick of 8.1 just for the sake of having. Now I could upgrade the machine to 8.1 fine through the Store, but it would be nice to be able to do it with a usb stick so that it is a clean install. Anyone resolve this?:hi2:
