    Hi all,

I work on computers for a church and school part time (free of course). One of the members has an older system that really is not powerful enough for XP but would be perfect for good old win98. Now I don't do pirated stuff so thats not an option.

Trying to avoid buying on Ebay.

Does anyone know of an online retailer that might still be selling these for not too expensive I hope (comes outta my pocket)??

    Thnx,
    Adam

What are the specs on the box? Perhaps Win 2k is an option. It would help if you define not too expensive.

You could also consider one of the various Linux distros for an older computer.

I was also going to suggest Linux.

    Me too :D

Try Ubuntu, you can either download it and burn it or ask them to send it to you (100% free).

If it can't handle xp, xubuntu would probably run better.

I have no idea where you could buy win98 though.

I dont think theres anywhere you can get 98 anymore. Linux would be a better bet. Xubuntu, ELive, DSL, and knoppix are all designed to be run on very old machines, if you would consider a linux distro.

I would also go with windows 2000 being that the PCs are for Church and school.

Otherwise I would also have suggested a Linux distro like Ubuntu.
