    Hello.

Today a window popped up on my desktop.
It tells me that my Windows license is about to expire, I thought Vista came with the laptop?
Does this mean that I have to purchase Vista again?
    Thanks

That happened recently to me with a copy of XP which is well beyond four years old. In my case, a phone number was given which allowed me to connect with MS, explain what was going on, and I was issued a new key. All was well within just a few minutes. I suspect you'll be able to have this situation under control with a simple phone call. Good luck.

You just need to activate it online! , it just checks to see if your licence number has been used before!

I hope you're right. I wasn't able to do that. In fact, I received an error message which said the disk had been used too often (the machine was a HS grad gift for my youngest ins 2004), and that I needed to call MS.

It is a possibility that the automatic updates installed the Beta or RC version of SP1, which expires pretty soon....
if that is the case....uninstall it and install the proper SP1....through microsoft update and the activation problem should not reccur....!!

    Hello.
    Sorry for the late reply.
As for the all the questions listed above, my answer to them would be "yes".
But as angad1608 said, I still have the beta version of SP1 installed. I'll uninstall it and see if it fixes the problem.
Thanks for all the help. :)

I think that the beta SP1 was the culprit and u cud probably hang out with vista for an hour or two to see if it functions properly and then update to the FINAL SP1.... :)and if you have problems uninstalling it this is a guide I referred to someone earlier....it should work for you as well.. :p Uninstall Vista Service Pack 1 Beta
