    Windows Aero in Vista Home Basic?

    Does it actually work with a registry hack like this?

    Possibly a dumb question, but I never got the straight story.

    Your probably referrring to this: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_ff_std_ux.asp It doesn't occur that often and usually happens only on certain hardware configurations. Note that it's not full Aero w/transparencies, it just activates Windows Vista's Desktop Window Manager and provides several Aeroesque effects. Think of it as Aero "Light." It's called Windows Vista Standard, and appears to be activated through the registry hack you linked to.
