Alright, so I notice some manufactuers don't let you pick Ultimate right off the start for your OS. Say for example, Home Premium for Vista is quite common.
So say I purchased a system with Home Premium on it. If you wanted to get Vista Ultimate, you would only need to run the "anytime upgrade" right? Does that magically "unlock" the features or do you go through a clean installation of the system as if you were installing Vista off a disc? And does anyone know how much it costs to go from Home Premium to Ultimate?
Anyone who's used the Anytime Upgrade perhaps or knows a bit about it?

You will actually need an any-time upgrade disk, so it's not as simple as inputting your payment and then you will be able to start upgrading. I don't remember the exact price, but you can try to find it on Microsoft's site or through vista. You will probably have to wait a few days to get the upgrade disk shipped, and then you will be able to upgrade. I haven't gone through the process myself, but I've read reviews on people who have. I was considering it too, the only way to buy ultimate right off the bat was the 64 bit version I believe.

At Most places the upgrade from Premium to Ultimate is gonna cost you $159.00.
