I have this little problem with the WEI in Vista that's been bugging me for some time. Basically, I cannot get my WEI scores for Graphics to improve on my HP nc6400 notebook. My specifications are:
ATI X1300 128MB
T7200 2.0 GHz
2GB RAM
WXGA+ screen
I have seen posts online where people are getting at least 3.5 for Graphics on this notebook with similar specs, but I only get 3.2 (with maximum performance setting). I have since performed the following steps in an effort to improve my scores, but to no avail:
1. Update graphics driver from HP.
2. Update graphics driver from Lenovo since HP's drivers are older.
3. Update BIOS.
4. Reinstall Vista (clean install).
5. Update to Catalyst 7.5 using MobilityModder patch.
6. Swap memory modules (in case it's a RAM issue).
7. Change screen resolution (an 800x600 resolution DID change my score to 3.4, but I don't think this is the solution).
Despite all the above efforts, I am still getting 3.2 for no apparent reason. Any thoughts? Much appreciated.

I get 3.1 with Intel945GM using the WDDM driver.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
honestly they probably dont have the same graphics card (or graphics card clock) as you do. its not that big a deal either way - wei doesnt do anything. its just there.
go play hl2 and enjoy it -
I agree with masterchef341. I have done a few clean installs of my Vista and have had scores vary by .5 points either way and NONE of them are consistent except for the processor score. WEI is not a reliable benchmark imho. If it works and you can do what you need to and it does it will, don't concern yourself with those numbers.

My 6600GT score actually went down after I updated to the latest Nvidia Drivers. WEI isn't very reliable IMO.
-
WEI sucks. My X1600 is rated below many laptops with X1400's and X1300's, yet my card runs circles around them both.

WEI. If your score hits below 2 ( i think), say goodbye to the nice Aero interface. There are some hacks if i'm not wrong that can artifically inflate the score.

The thing that should be labeled as inaccurate and misleading is the Reliability and Performance Mointor. Hey, i never got a BSOD, but a couple of program glitches i know of that will cause it to drop the PRM down to now, 2.2 out of 10 while everything still seems fine to me. -
I notice that WEI picks the lowest score out of the five.. mine is 3.0 due to the video card, an nVidia (HPdv2138xx)

After i upgrade to catalyst from Lenovo my score is lower, from 4.0 to 3.8....

In order to satisfy my curiosity, I simply edited the performance xml file and gave myself 3.5. Could have given myself any value in that case! -
As long as you still have aero and your gaming performance is good, WEI is bull****. It doesn't really matter if you have 3,2 or 3,5 gaming score, as long as real life perfomance is satisfactory.

Very true.

This Gizmodo Article explains WEI pretty well. And, since it's not a static evaluation app, it's kind of worthless:

vostro 1400, T5470, X3100, 1.5G RAM, 3.5.

Oh now come on, the WEI is a pretty good idea I think. If used correctly, it could serve as an accurate gage as to whether future software can play on a given system. I think it's still in the early stages and needs work, but it can be used for a lot once it's more reliable.

Actually it simplify the customer's info about system's specifications. They just state the index number they want and search for a system with it. Simple.
But, IT IS still sounds like "my p***s is bigger than yours" competition. -
You mean like this? lol
