I keep getting this message every time I click on Windows Explorer

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
Please install a program or,if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

Do anyone know how to fix this without reinstalling everything again?

Perhaps the problem is only the shortcut which you are using --> Try creating a new shortcut on the desktop with this address: %windir%\explorer.exe

Neither of those worked. Klaus, what you told me to do did nothing and Josea the only thing that keeps happening when I press Win key + E to launch explorer is a message that said " Unspecified error ".

I'm still having this problem so if there is anyone else out there that can help, I will appreciated it a lot.

i would get rid of internet explorer and try firefox as i think its much better.
if you want to stick with IE then you might need to download it again as something is corrupt.

This has nothing to do with Internet Explorer.....nothing. The passion Firefox fans feel for their favorite browser is admirable, but why is the solution to everything "Use firefox!"

This is definitely the sign of malware, in particular one that routes explorer loads through itself before launching explorer.

The easiest way to fix this--even if you have cleaned the virus, is to run a system restore to before the virus...otherwise, there's some deep registry diving ahead.

Control Panel has a "Set Program Associations" tool. That will work.

    No, it won't.

This is not an association problem. Association problems are issues where an entire class of files (exe, jpg, png, com, etc) do not open in their associated program.

This is a problem where clicking explorer.exe does not open explorer.exe.

If this were an association problem, NO PROGRAM would run at all.
