This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Windows Explorer Shell Replacement?

    I don't want Internet Explorer but Windows Explorer replacement for XP. There is Aston but I have had nothing but trouble with that one (would make a file that quickly ate up space on the hd). But if anyone has any suggestions on a shell replacement, not a cover up with it running in the background, I would be grateful.

    I didn't know you actually COULD replace Windows Explorer.

    Thanks Overclocker. Didn't think about searching again. I did about a year ago and found a lot less than this.

    You can replace explorer.exe in Windows but unless you get one that supports all the functions it is worthless. The two biggest reasons for replacing it are because of resource use and lack of customization.
