I want to view the number of files in a folder without right clicking and then selecting properties.

In Windows Explorer, when I right click in the Window and "Choose Details", I put a check mark next to "File Count", but the count does not appear.

    XP or Vista?

And is the 'status bar' set to view?

    What is the status bar?

The "File Count" does appear in a column heading, but the fields are blank.
