    hi,

i have this brand new custom computer. i just use this machine several times now, i haven't install anything out of the ordinary, just the software that comes with the hardware, zonealarm security suite, spybot, spyware blaster, ad-aware, itunes. so it is a pretty fresh install.

but the thing is sometimes after i turn my machine off for a while, it sometimes failed to start. the 3 blue loading bar just hang. so i need to force reset my machine. then it loads properly again.

any idea what is wrong? how to fix it?

oh is there any change that this might damage windows or my data? do i need to do a check-disk everytime this occur?

    thanks

edit: btw, this computer sometimes also has trouble entering stand by.
and i'm not sure if this is the cause; but, the problem usually occur after i install a driver or update windows, etc.

could this be a software issue? hardware issue/conflict?

As a place to start, try re-seating the memory and hard drive.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, they are no making the correct contact even if they feel secure. Re-seasting them may correct the problem. I have seen it work myself. The chances are small, but as I said it's a place to start not necessarily the solution.

oh btw, the i came with a frequent error message saying that something "the memmory at (number here)x(number here) cannot be read" well something like that anyway.

could it be that there is something wrong with my RAM?

    btw i have a CORSAIR TWIN2X6400C4 800Mhz 4-4-4-12.
funny thing is, by default my motherboard run it at 5-5-5-18 at 2.14v. i haven't dare touch the setting.

if there is something wrong with the memmory is that possible that it might corrupt my data in my harddrive? if i get it replace do i need to reinstall windows? i do a check disk but they says nothing is wrong.

i just did a Memtes86+ test, and it came up with 0 eror after 18 pass with standard check.

update: does that mean that my ram is allright? or is there anymore test i can do using memtest that i don't know about?
